Welcome to the ADD It Up Web site!

The purpose of this group is to provide support and assistance to families, carers, professionals and people affected by Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder and related conditions or any other hidden disability. Our organisation is based in Ayrshire but we cover the whole of Scotland. We hold current information on other Scottish support groups and will put you in touch with your nearest one. If there isn't one then we will help you set one up.

ADD It up is a registered charity (Scottish charity no. SCO30161). The group was first established in May 2000 by Fiona Thomson, Jo Hamilton and Keith Hamilton. The group began in Fiona's front room to provide support to people in the same position as them and has since grown to around 100 members ranging from parents to grandparents, brothers, sisters, friends and professional bodies. the group moved to Cranberry Moss community centre in 2003 and offers a help line 24/7. The office is manned by parent volunteers during school term time and a mobile phone number is available out of hours.

Help ranges from emotional support to assistance with DLA forms and support at meetings with schools etc. We hold monthly group meetings in North, South and East Ayrshire where members can get together over a cuppa and a biscuit and ask questions or just chat informally and get away from the everyday pressures. We are also involved in the lobbying of MSPs on mental health issues. We have links with other groups and organisations around the world.

As well as everyday support, we offer training days and conferences about mental health and related issues and have close links with the health authorities, the social services and education.
